Embracing Authenticity and Faith: A Path to Dreaming Big
In a recent episode of the Anchored with Purpose podcast, I had the pleasure of diving deep into faith, leadership, and dreaming big with Trisha Espinoza, host of The Bad Catholic Podcast. Trisha’s unapologetic authenticity and her journey to integrate faith into her personal growth and leadership coaching were nothing short of inspiring.
Digging into Faith with Authenticity
One of my favorite things about Trisha’s podcast is her refreshing honesty. In her introduction, she calls herself a “bad Catholic, maybe trying to be a good one.” This vulnerability draws listeners in and creates a space to explore faith without fear of judgment.
Trisha reminded us that faith is a journey, not a destination. Whether it’s the Sacrament of Confession or grappling with tough questions about annulments or other faith topics, she invites women to come as they are. As Trisha so beautifully put it, “Jesus loves us anyway, whether we’ve followed all the rules or not. He just wants a close relationship with us, and we’ll work on the rest.”
This perspective resonated with me deeply. Sometimes, we approach sacraments and expect certain emotions or outcomes, but faith often surprises us. It’s okay to question, explore, and be honest about where we are on the path.
Integrating Faith into Leadership
Trisha’s work as a coach is guided by her mission to help women uncover their unique purpose, including their relationship with God. What struck me most was her approach to coaching. She starts by creating a safe, judgment-free space for her clients, respecting where they are spiritually and emotionally.
Some clients, as she describes, are “spiritually curious” but hesitant to dive deeper due to past experiences or trauma. Trisha honors their journey by asking thoughtful, reflective questions rather than imposing her beliefs. This allows women to discover their inner voice—the whisper of the Holy Spirit—and connect it to their purpose.
One memorable moment she shared was helping a client recognize her inner voice as God’s guidance. “God’s giving you advice all day long, girlfriend. He knows you want to be a badass leader and you can be,” Trisha said.
The Power of Dreaming Big
As our conversation continued, we turned to a topic I’m passionate about: dreaming big. For many women, dreaming feels like a luxury, often forgotten amidst the demands of everyday life. Trisha’s advice was simple yet powerful: “Put it on the board.”
Whether it’s becoming a bestselling author, starting a nursery, or pursuing another passion, she encouraged listeners to write down their dreams without questioning the “how” or the “why.” Authenticity is the first step. She reminded us that dreams reflect the unique purpose God has planted in our hearts.
I couldn’t agree more. During a coaching session earlier this week, I had a similar experience. As I prayed for guidance, the Holy Spirit gave me questions to ask my client that opened doors she didn’t even know existed. Coaching moments like these are mutual blessings—they fill my cup just as much as they fill hers.
Moving Forward in Faith
For women feeling stuck or hesitant to dream big, Trisha’s advice is to embrace authenticity and let go of self-doubt. Take a leap of faith and trust that God will guide the journey.
Dreaming big isn’t about having all the answers or a perfect plan—it’s about allowing yourself to imagine possibilities and trusting that God will meet you where you are.
If this message resonates with you, take a moment to reflect: What is one dream you’ve been hesitant to name? Write it down. Share it with a trusted friend. And remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out—just start.
I’m so grateful for Trisha’s insights and her dedication to helping women step into their God-given purpose. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out The Bad Catholic Podcast.
